Pete’s “IT/HD 2010″ Tour Journal #3

November 15th, 2010

Saturday was an eventful day for Iron Thrones…. so was today for that matter. A number of things have happened, including almost being destroyed by a whirlwind of man-eating seagulls! We’ll be posting some footage of the carnage very soon.

Ok, where to begin…. After we left Pittsburgh, we enjoyed a nice visit to our friends at Taco Bell, who have been gracious enough to hook the band up with 500$ in Taco Bell bucks; which I’m pretty sure hold about the same value as gold. Suck on that, Fort Knox!

I do have to say that having those bucks sitting around in my wallet has been a life saver this tour. My favorite part about spending the TBB’s is that some of the time, the people working at taco bell have never seen TBB’s. They seem to think that maybe we are scamming them into free Taco Bell. Personally, I enjoy some Taco Bell, but I can think of a number of different scams I could take part in that are way more beneficial then stealing tacos. ….. Or can I?

The drive from Pittsburgh to Rochester was about 5 hours, so we got a nice look at the countryside. I didn’t realize that upstate New York had so much wilderness and space. Then again… I’ve never been to upstate New York so I guess I wouldn’t.

We arrived in Rochester and began loading in to The Bug Jar. This place reminds me of a haunted house that I grew up around called “The Ravens Grin”. It wasn’t scary at all, just really weird and full of completely bat-shit crazy artwork. There was a complete studio apartment set up on the ceiling of the music room. Tom took some pictures and they should surface on one of our websites eventually…. along with my spread in Playgirl.

We played a good set and met some very cool people. I’m glad this tour is going well for us. I think it was Dustin Kensrue from Thrice who, when reminiscing about the early days of the band, said that he barely remembers a good number of their shows. It was something along the lines of tons of adrenaline and massive amounts of fun that made it all seem like a blur, and that he wished he could go back and live it again. If this information is incorrect then sorry… deal with it,
Anyway, I was giving that some thought and came to the conclusion that I should maybe document some of the things that I do while I’m on the road, so I can’t forget anything. I may not be the most prolific human being currently alive, but damn I’m having fun.

Slept in a Walmart parking lot again. It is certainly becoming my home away from home.

The best thing is that we just went to a park in Ithaca, and fed some seagulls. Excuse me… we went to a park and were swarmed by a vicious, blood-thirsty swarm of ill tempered Seagulls…. from Hell. We got some good footage that we will turn into an epic montage. Let’s just say, that I enticed those bastards into flying directly at Curtis’s face. I almost got away with my diabolical scheme except, with a few well aimed bread crumb shots, he was able to ward them off.

Currently I am typing this up next to a Borders book store and it’s about to get dark. That’s one thing I’ll never get over about the winter is that it gets so dark, so early. Sometimes, it just seems like your living on the planet from Pitch Black. Yeah thats right, I’ll give a shout out to Riddick! If it wasn’t for him…… the world would be infested with mercs?

Tomorrow we will be in New York City. Our first show in Manhattan. It’s gonna be gnarly!

Until next time,

Pete

No we didn’t go to a pittsburgerking, and it’s not the same as Brad Pittsburgh. However, this could be compared to Brad Pittsburgerking.

After a “nice” 12 hour drive, and multiple pit stops, we finally arrived in Pittsburgh. It’s been a couple of months now since we came through this part of the world, and it feels great to be back. We played a set at Howlers Coyote Cafe, and the sound guy recorded the set for us, so be on the lookout for some live tracks. There was a good turnout and a few people who actually came to see us. As far as the shows are concerned, I’m really excited to see what happens on this tour! Did I mention we finally got to meet up with Hero Destroyed last night? They appear to be super good dudes and I’m stoked to hang out with them for the next 11 days.

Right now, “ebbybuby” (as Adam semi-drunkenly addressed the crowd last night; ‘Well hello, ebbybuby, we are ion throns”) is showering so we can get going on this 5 hour drive ahead of us. We got to crash at Dethlehem’s Overlord Bram’s house last night, which means everyone of us got a mattress or a couch to sleep on. Amazing, pure and simple.

See you soon,
Pete

So last night we played Madison, and I have to say, what a pleasant suprise. Cool people, old friends, and a really drunk guy who kept saying he was “old school”. No worries Madison, I won’t base my opinon of your city on that guy. The Frequency, the venue, was a cool place with some good tap beer and three old school arcade games (original mario). As the music commensed I couldn’t help but notice that there weren’t too many faces in the crowd, which is always disheartening to musicians. Yet as the night continued, folks began to filter in. A few hours and a few of those delicious tap beers later, Iron Thrones got up and stage to play. There were new faces in the crowd that we hadn’t met before that came to see us. I’m talking about you Captain America! It was a good first show to what will undoubtedly an amazing tour. Speaking of which, we meet up with Hero Destroyed tomorrow, it’s gonna be sweet. Stay tuned and see you later!

“The Wretched Sun” lyrics

September 23rd, 2010
Mmmmmmm, tasty

Mmmmmmm, tasty

We’ve posted the lyrics to “The Wretched Sun” in our forum, because forums are fun, and lyrics are fun, and thus the combination should logically be double-fun! Hopefully, that doesn’t turn out to be anything like double-stuffed Oreos. Sure, they sounded like a good idea, but A: it’s just more lard & sugar, without more cookie, and B: you just don’t fuck with a classic. Unless you plan on making it bigger. Dude, imagine a fucking double-SIZED Oreo. Or wait, maybe not double-sized, ’cause it wouldn’t fit into most glasses of milk, thus completely defeating the purpose. Unless we’re talking total volume, not simply doubling the diameter. Double the volume would likely still fit in a glass, and still constitute a doubling of size.

Any way, here are the “double-sized Oreo” forum links:

1: “Like A Moth To Flame” (lyrics)
2: “Ever Flowing” (lyrics)
3: “Against The Grain” (lyrics)
4: “I Once Had The Crown” (lyrics)
5: “Forever Glowing” (lyrics)
6: “And The Sky Came Falling Down” (lyrics)

Cheers,
