Saturday was an eventful day for Iron Thrones…. so was today for that matter. A number of things have happened, including almost being destroyed by a whirlwind of man-eating seagulls! We’ll be posting some footage of the carnage very soon.
Ok, where to begin…. After we left Pittsburgh, we enjoyed a nice visit to our friends at Taco Bell, who have been gracious enough to hook the band up with 500$ in Taco Bell bucks; which I’m pretty sure hold about the same value as gold. Suck on that, Fort Knox!
I do have to say that having those bucks sitting around in my wallet has been a life saver this tour. My favorite part about spending the TBB’s is that some of the time, the people working at taco bell have never seen TBB’s. They seem to think that maybe we are scamming them into free Taco Bell. Personally, I enjoy some Taco Bell, but I can think of a number of different scams I could take part in that are way more beneficial then stealing tacos. ….. Or can I?
The drive from Pittsburgh to Rochester was about 5 hours, so we got a nice look at the countryside. I didn’t realize that upstate New York had so much wilderness and space. Then again… I’ve never been to upstate New York so I guess I wouldn’t.
We arrived in Rochester and began loading in to The Bug Jar. This place reminds me of a haunted house that I grew up around called “The Ravens Grin”. It wasn’t scary at all, just really weird and full of completely bat-shit crazy artwork. There was a complete studio apartment set up on the ceiling of the music room. Tom took some pictures and they should surface on one of our websites eventually…. along with my spread in Playgirl.
We played a good set and met some very cool people. I’m glad this tour is going well for us. I think it was Dustin Kensrue from Thrice who, when reminiscing about the early days of the band, said that he barely remembers a good number of their shows. It was something along the lines of tons of adrenaline and massive amounts of fun that made it all seem like a blur, and that he wished he could go back and live it again. If this information is incorrect then sorry… deal with it,
Anyway, I was giving that some thought and came to the conclusion that I should maybe document some of the things that I do while I’m on the road, so I can’t forget anything. I may not be the most prolific human being currently alive, but damn I’m having fun.
Slept in a Walmart parking lot again. It is certainly becoming my home away from home.
The best thing is that we just went to a park in Ithaca, and fed some seagulls. Excuse me… we went to a park and were swarmed by a vicious, blood-thirsty swarm of ill tempered Seagulls…. from Hell. We got some good footage that we will turn into an epic montage. Let’s just say, that I enticed those bastards into flying directly at Curtis’s face. I almost got away with my diabolical scheme except, with a few well aimed bread crumb shots, he was able to ward them off.
Currently I am typing this up next to a Borders book store and it’s about to get dark. That’s one thing I’ll never get over about the winter is that it gets so dark, so early. Sometimes, it just seems like your living on the planet from Pitch Black. Yeah thats right, I’ll give a shout out to Riddick! If it wasn’t for him…… the world would be infested with mercs?
Tomorrow we will be in New York City. Our first show in Manhattan. It’s gonna be gnarly!
Until next time,
Pete
