Pete’s “IT/HD 2010″ Tour Journal #1

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

So last night we played Madison, and I have to say, what a pleasant suprise. Cool people, old friends, and a really drunk guy who kept saying he was “old school”. No worries Madison, I won’t base my opinon of your city on that guy. The Frequency, the venue, was a cool place with some good tap beer and three old school arcade games (original mario). As the music commensed I couldn’t help but notice that there weren’t too many faces in the crowd, which is always disheartening to musicians. Yet as the night continued, folks began to filter in. A few hours and a few of those delicious tap beers later, Iron Thrones got up and stage to play. There were new faces in the crowd that we hadn’t met before that came to see us. I’m talking about you Captain America! It was a good first show to what will undoubtedly an amazing tour. Speaking of which, we meet up with Hero Destroyed tomorrow, it’s gonna be sweet. Stay tuned and see you later!

“The Wretched Sun” lyrics

Mmmmmmm, tasty

Mmmmmmm, tasty

We’ve posted the lyrics to “The Wretched Sun” in our forum, because forums are fun, and lyrics are fun, and thus the combination should logically be double-fun! Hopefully, that doesn’t turn out to be anything like double-stuffed Oreos. Sure, they sounded like a good idea, but A: it’s just more lard & sugar, without more cookie, and B: you just don’t fuck with a classic. Unless you plan on making it bigger. Dude, imagine a fucking double-SIZED Oreo. Or wait, maybe not double-sized, ’cause it wouldn’t fit into most glasses of milk, thus completely defeating the purpose. Unless we’re talking total volume, not simply doubling the diameter. Double the volume would likely still fit in a glass, and still constitute a doubling of size.

Any way, here are the “double-sized Oreo” forum links:

1: “Like A Moth To Flame” (lyrics)
2: “Ever Flowing” (lyrics)
3: “Against The Grain” (lyrics)
4: “I Once Had The Crown” (lyrics)
5: “Forever Glowing” (lyrics)
6: “And The Sky Came Falling Down” (lyrics)

Iron Thrones/Last Chance to Reason Summer Tour – Day 1-3

Sunday, August 1st, 2010
First day of tour was mostly taken up by driving, both before and after the show in Chicago at The Double Door. We ended up playing with a couple of somewhat confusing 80′s rock/hair metal revival bands, and one really kick-ass band called The Alaya Conscious. They were good, you should see them. They’re clearly lacking the fanbase they should have, as there were only a couple of people at the show other than the bands themselves, and most of them were there to see one of the 80′s bands. We did meet a couple of cool dudes from Heavy Hitter Inc. (management/radio promo/other stuff company).

Day 2 we didn’t have a show, so we hung out at the beach and looked at some dumb teenage dudes throwing a football at passers by, and swam in the somewhat disgusting yet strangely refreshing lake Erie. Afterwards, we drove to this really nice girl named Sarah’s house outside of Columbus, where we’d end up sleeping for the next couple of nights. Day 3 we played in Columbus, again to only a couple of people, but there was free beer and the guys/girls there were nice. I think the sound guy was having a rough night, but he did the best he could with the subpar PA there. Everyone got drunk but me, because I suck at partying.

We drove back to Sarah’s house, where everyone else continued to get drunk and apparently sniff each other’s farts. Or at least our merch guy Tom did. There’s photo evidence, and he’s the only one who threw up the next morning, so I believe it. I’m working on getting the video up now: I’ll post it later if it’s YouTube-safe. (edit: picture instead)

Today we’re playing with Dethlehem in Aliquippa, PA (http://bit.ly/aliquippashow), hopefully a few people can make it out!

Cheers,

“The Wretched Sun” is released unto the world!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010
Finally, the wait is over: you can listen to/grab our album pretty much anywhere you'd like! It's out in the wild, like a tiger or giraffe or possibly a mosquito. You won't know until you listen, now will you?

No, you won't.

We worked quite hard on these songs, with certain mile-markers of the writing process highlighted in our YouTube videos back before this whole crazy contest came around. It's been an awesome, confusing, rewarding, frustrating, introspective ride, and with a difficult-to-book DIY tour about to commence, the amount and variety of adjectives is likely to increase. So I hope you're hungry for adjectives. And metal. And probably a tour journal.
