Pete’s “IT/HD 2010″ Tour Journal #6

Friday, November 26th, 2010

The tour is over… it’s crazy how fast that went by. I am sitting at my folks’ house right now, about to eat Thanksgiving dinner, and I’m thinking about how much fun the last couple of weeks have been. Tour is such an interesting situation when you stop to think about it. Multiple band guys pile into a van or bus, and then travel around trying to sell CD’s and t-shirts. There is a great chance that a band guy is broke, smelly, unemployed, and/or starving by the time the tour is over, and sometimes this is the case before the band even hits the road. Yet, touring is somehow the greatest adventure that a musician can engage in. In every tour I have been on, there are always new and exciting experiences that I would never thrown into in the “real world”. I love it. You should too!

Any way, Hero Destroyed has officially rocked the world of Iron Thrones! We went to Pittsburgh after the last show on the tour and had some wings and beers with the HD guys. By the way, they are now known as Gyro Destroyed. All I can say is that if you have never heard these guys, you should promptly get on Myspace, Facebook, Google, or whatever social network you like to use, and listen to them! It’s heavy as hell. Also, buy all of their merch! Plus, they are super nice dudes, and it was a sincere pleasure to work with them. Not to mention that they put Iron Thrones to shame when it comes to drinking. Of course, besides Adam and possibly Curt, that’s not the hardest task. Gyro Destroyed guys, I hope to tour with you again! Soon!

So what does Iron Thrones have on their plate now that this latest tour is over? Well, the idea is to do some significant writing over the winter. If there is any state that can inspire the perfect blend of hatred and harmonious melody, it’s Minnesota. Every day that I wake up and look out my window, I see the world in a white wash of snow and ice. It makes me want to scale the highest peak in Minnesota with a B.C. Rich guitar, my face done up with corpse paint, and rain metal of the blackest kind down on helpless bystanders who were unfortunate enough to be drawn in by my unearthly magnetism. Of course, then I step outside and instantly want to die. Somehow, that is related to the writing process…

I believe we already have pictures and video posted from this last tour, but stay tuned for more. Remember when I mentioned live audio track from our Pittsburgh show? Yeah!

I’ll try to check in more often and post random things about what the band is doing.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Pete

Pete’s “IT/HD 2010″ Tour Journal #5

Hello everyone and anyone who has been reading my blogs. Sorry it has taken me a while to post another one. There is a ton of great stuff that has happened in the last couple of days that I have no doubt forgotten and will not be writing about, however, what I do remember is still pretty good.

I’ll begin where I left off…. I think that was the day we played Manhattan.

After we played the show, on our way to upstate New York to stay with Curtis’s relatives, we were immediately pulled over on the parkway and ticketed. Parkways in the state of New York are for “passenger cars” only. Apparently, having a trailer makes your passenger car… NOT a passenger car. Thanks for the tip Mr. Police Officer Man. It’s not like we are from out of state or something and didn’t know your excellent traffic control laws because they’re so widely available. Just saying, a warning probably would have sufficed.

The last few shows have been a blur. Boston was amazing! We are currently in Bethlehem, PA. Tonight and tomorrow are all that’s left. I still feel like we just started this thing.

I’ll tell you what, I’ll try to post another couple of blogs on the way home that get into more detail about the shows that I have left off, which are quite a few now. I really need to get my own laptop.

Any way, we’ve 15 minutes to load in and I need to get going.

Talk to you again soon,
Pete

So last night we played Madison, and I have to say, what a pleasant suprise. Cool people, old friends, and a really drunk guy who kept saying he was “old school”. No worries Madison, I won’t base my opinon of your city on that guy. The Frequency, the venue, was a cool place with some good tap beer and three old school arcade games (original mario). As the music commensed I couldn’t help but notice that there weren’t too many faces in the crowd, which is always disheartening to musicians. Yet as the night continued, folks began to filter in. A few hours and a few of those delicious tap beers later, Iron Thrones got up and stage to play. There were new faces in the crowd that we hadn’t met before that came to see us. I’m talking about you Captain America! It was a good first show to what will undoubtedly an amazing tour. Speaking of which, we meet up with Hero Destroyed tomorrow, it’s gonna be sweet. Stay tuned and see you later!
